Australia 18 Dec 2008

Australia is Baz Luhrmann’s latest offering and appears to be an epic style film starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. Australia is the story of a woman played by Nicole Kidman who moves from England to Australia to sell a cattle ranch owned by her estranged husband. Upon arrival, she is greeted by her dead husband, and soon uncovers a plot to swindle her cattle business. Calling upon the help of the 'drover' played by Hugh Jackman - the pair set off across Australia to drive the cattle to the shore to sell to the military. Laced with Austrailian culture, aboriginal magic, racial battles and odds-defying love, the story is both heartwarming and exhilarating. Australia has amazing set production and visuals throughout. The movie is beautiful to look at and inspires you to make a trip to Australia. So is this going to be the next Gone with the Wind??

Rab Ne Bana Di Hit 15 Dec 2008

Finally, after a span of 8 years we got the opportunity to witness the magic of the most successful actor – director jodi, SRK and Aditya Chopra. And I must say, yet again, the jodi did not let us down. Although the movie has been written off by the critics, I feel that the masses (including myself) have enjoyed it thoroughly. I think it was funny, sweet, the intense and climax was handled really well. It is one of those movies which have a repeat value. I’ve seen it twice… still counting. SRK was at his best and Anushka was a total surprise. She is really confident and did a great job. Vinay in that brief role was adorable. So how many of you are actually waiting for ‘Pehli Barish’? How many of you are actually planning to have a gol gappa competition? And how many of you thought about going to Japan?

Madagascar Escape to Africa promises to be fun for all ages and complete family entertainer. The movie picks up with Alex, Marty, voiced by Chris Rock, Melman, voiced by David Schwimmer and Gloria, voiced by Jada Pinkett Smith, leaving Madagascar and trying to get back to New York. The plane crashes and they find out that they have landed in the wild in Africa. The directors have used different computer techniques that made it more magical. Each time you watch the movie you can find a new feature. Also the humor element is still intact in the film. So will this sequel surpass its predecessor?

RNBDJ and Ghajini 27 Nov 2008

Perhaps this is first time in Bollywood history that two of the biggest Khan’s of the industry are releasing their movie in the same month. RNBDJ on the 11th December and Ghajini on the 25th December. We, as movie fanatics, cannot ask for more than this. The best way to end the year. The songs and promos for both movies have already created the hype and the buzz in the town. Both movies are very different from each other and both have the potential to break all box office records. We only have to wait and see which of these two will live up to the mammoth expectations. So are you ready for the Bollywood fireworks?

The new James Bond film Quantum of Solace has broken box office records in its opening weekend in the UK - taking £15.5m in three days, according to early figures. The opening scene car chase is guaranteed to give audiences an absolute adrenaline rush and Daniel Crag’s brisk and brutal portrayal offers a new dimension to Bond. Is the audience ready to accept the new realism injected into Bond’s character and can Daniel Craig’s charisma sustain the Bond franchise?
